Arsenal defender William Saliba is focusing on the Premier League clash with Manchester City and will use his strong defensive game to defeat the four-time champions at the Etihad Stadium as he is tire of playing the supporting role.
The Gunners just drew 0-0 with Atalanta in their opening Champions League game yesterday, giving them one less day of rest than City, and they have to travel to play another away game on Sunday.
However, the Frenchman is not taking this as an excuse and is aiming to secure three points without conceding a goal, as he has managed to do in four of his five games in all competitions this season, thanks to his partnership with Gabriel Magalhaes.
“It’s no secret that the coordination between me and Gabriel has been good,” he told the official website.
“I am good, he is good.”
“We both speak French and this is our third season together, we know each other very well and it’s great to play every game with him.”
“We grew up together because Gabriel is still fresh, so it’s great to have him as a partner.”
For the goal of meeting Man City, it is certain that they need three points. Especially since the opponent is a team that starts slowly. Seizing the advantage early on is important when reaching the final stretch of the season.
“We didn’t lose to them last season, so I’m not thinking about settling accounts or anything like that – City have won the league the last two seasons.”
“To be honest, we are facing many teams in the English Premier League. It’s not just about beating Man City and that’s the end of the story. It’s about fighting every team. So, we only care about our own performance because there are still many games left to play.”
“We all want to achieve something.”
“We’ve know that winning the English Premier League title doesn’t come easy. But when you’ve finished second twice, you want to be champions too.”
“We will give everything, even if we have to do more than last season because we don’t want to be second. Third or fourth – we want to win this league and we will do everything we can.”
